Superior Business Writing: Winning With Words
A Continuing Education Seminar
William Bernhardt, New York Times bestselling
author of more than
twenty novels and a former trial
lawyer, tells people in the business world what they really
need to know to succeed on the
printed page, based upon personal
experience and extensive interview.
Bernhardt takes participants through a
practical and systematic consideration
of the writing process, peppered with
practical assignments based upon real world
scenarios.
"Mr. Bernhardt's writing class goes beyond the basic dos and don'ts of writing. He teaches the importance of clear and concise writing and provides attendees with practical tools needed to improve their writing skills. This class effectively filled a real need at Samson that has not been addressed by other writing skills classes. Further, Mr. Bernhardt's handson and engaging manner made the experience enjoyable for our employees. We look forward to working with Mr. Bernhardt again." –Stacy Boone, Human Resources Training Advisor, Samson Resources
"William Bernhardt delivered! We were looking for an infusion of fresh ideas. Mr. Bernhardt gave us the writer's perspective, demonstrating writing that grabs the reader's attention instead of substituting for a sleep aid. The effective application of words is power. This workshop consistently demonstrated the correlation between the utilization of bold, direct, and distinctive language to achieve a persuasive and meaningful result." –Trey Davis, Director of Continuing Professional Education and Training, Office of the State Auditor
About the Program
The greatest skill anyone in the business or corporate world can possess is the
ability to write clearly, concisely, and convincingly.
This seminar
introduces writing and editing techniques designed
to maximize writing proficiency.
Bernhardt focuses on helping participants develop skills and strategies for communicating in a rapidly changing business environment. Bernhardt covers common writing errors, the pitfalls of jargon, capturing a reader's imagination (no matter how dull the assignment), memos, report, letters, and even email. Although the presentation is educational and illuminating, Bernhardt always keeps it lively, never boring.
All examples are graphically illustrated on PowerPoint. The attendees will be asked to work on the displayed exercises so they can see their writing evolve from the typical to the superior. This technique allows participants to readily grasp the point and leave the seminar ready to implement these winning techniques.
This seminar can also contain an optional section concentrating on ethical issues upon request.
